Chinese restaurants in the USA began during the California gold rush, which brought twenty to thirty thousand immigrants across from the Canton region of China. No different from Lotus Chinese Kitchen which was first established in 1975’s by “grandpa”.
“Grandpa” home style cooking quickly became well know in east Broward County, mainly in the city of Wilton Manors. His dream was to open a restaurant where customers could daily enjoy and appreciate his home style cooking from scratch, using fresh ingredients without preservatives.
By doing this through the years Lotus was awarded for twp consecutive years by the City Guide for “city best” chinese food in Fort Lauderdale and also has been voted “1st Place Oriental Food” by readers of the “East Sider and Hi-Riser”.
Lotus have been in business for over 40 years, kept in the family generation, now current owner John Yang “ grandpa” grandkid keeps following his family tradition.
Lotus and John believe food is an integral part of culture, and that dinning is a time to relax and enjoy the food by the company of friends and family.
